Two weeks ago Nokia unveiled the E63 new smartphone which is very simple, cheap and it helps you and your business when you need the most. This handheld was designed for the people who think that the E71 is way too sophisticated, but it’s still a smartphone and I have to say that the full-QWERTY keyboard and the menu keys are looking great.

The E63 is based on Symbian 9.2 S60, and it sports 110MB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 8GB thanks to a microSD card slot. A good thing and an advantage over the E71 is that the E63 features a better Navi-Wheel navigational device therefore flipping between menus and screens will be easier.

Nokia thought that a 2-megapixel camera will be enough, but sadly your pics will not be of high-quality. The E63 supports quad-band 3G, GPRS, EDGE, and in the connectivity area you will find Wi-Fi, A2DP Bluetooth, and Infrared (yeah, I was surprised to hear this too). Other features include a 3.5 mm headphone jack, media player, and FM Radio.

The battery life is great with 432 hours of talk time and about 11 hours in standby mode. Well, this smartphone is not as good as the E71, but Nokia announced that the price will be very low so that anyone could afford. For the moment, the release date is unknown, but we could see it in stores before Christmas or in the first months of 2009.

The BlackBerry Storm is coming soon for users and this would be a great moment to remind you the key features of this smartphone. The Storm 9500 will be powered by a 624Mhz processor alongside 128MB of RAM and an internal storage of 1GB which could be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot.

Being nicknamed the true iPhone Killer, the BlackBerry Storm’s spec list includes a 3.25-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 360×480 and 65,000 colors. Although the screen is bright and big, the battery should keep you 360 hours in standy and about 5 hours of talktime. Another advantage of this smartphone is that it features two QWERTY keyboards, one in landscape and the other is full QWERTY keyboard.

The BlackBerry Storm 9500 supports full HTML browser, IMAP4, POP3, Microsoft Exchange, and applications like Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live, AOL, ICQ, Facebook, MySpace and Flickr, but you can add others via the BlackBerry App Center.

Other key features consist of the 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus, Built-in GPS, BlackBerry Maps, BlackBerry OS 4.7, 3G, GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, DataViz document viewer/editor, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The BlackBerry Storm 9500 should be available in a few days or maybe a couple of weeks and according to RIM the smartphone will be very cheap so we’re looking forward to it.

Since the release of the iPhone many handsets were dubbed as the “iPhone killer” and so far the only phone who managed to do that was the iPhone 3G (yeah, I know, this was not a good joke). Well, the HTC Touch Diamond and all other smartphones didn’t kill the iPhone, and it seems like the upcoming T-Mobile G1, the cellphone powered by Google’s Android will fail in the attempt to outsell Apple’s iPhone.

Well, as Nokia didn’t prepare anything to compete against Apple’s “jewel”, we should turn our attention to BlackBerry where we can see a lot of smartphones, but once again, nothing spectacular until RIM announced the Storm 9500.

Could this really be the iPhone killer? Let’s take a look to the spec list - 3.25-inch full touchscreen with high-res 480 x 360, 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus, 3G, wireless email, built-in GPS, landscape QWERTY keyboard, 3.5mm headphone jack, 625MHz processor, 128MB of flash memory with 1GB on-board memory and expandable MicroSD card, and finally BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry Maps among many others.

So, what’s your first impression? I think that this could really compete against the iPhone 3G, but first let’s wait for the BlackBerry Storm to be released as we don’t even when how much it will cost.

Well, I just heard that the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 will finally become available on the European market as of next month, actually I have to be more specific as the handheld will show up on the UK market. I have to say that I was impressed by Xperia’s key features and once it’s available I could be among the first customers.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 will feature 400MB of internal memory, 256 MB RAM and 512MB storage memory which should work fine with the Windows Mobile OS. Also, the handset will feature Power Office, GPS, Java, E-mail and voice memo among many others.

In the connectivity area, you will find that the handset supports 3G, GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 will also feature a 3.15-megapixel camera with autofocus, 3-inch touchscreen, QWERTY keyboard, and although the list of specs is kinda large, the smartphone only measures 4.3 x 2.1 x 0.7 inches and weighs 145 grams.

If you are looking to buy it, maybe you will like to see more info about the Xperia X1. For the moment, there are two small problems - Sony Ericsson didn’t announce how much it will cost and the battery performance. I guess we will have to wait just a few weeks to find out.
